The isolator is one type of mechanical switch used to isolate a fraction of the electrical circuit when it is required. Isolator switches are used for opening an electrical circuit in the no-load condition. It is not proposed to be opened while current flows through the line. Generally, these are employed on circuit breaker both the ends thus the circuit breaker repair can be done easily without any risk.
It has 3 vertical column disconnector mounted on steel frame, the centre pole rotates horizontally and breaks the circuit from both ends. The centre posts are supported by ball bearing to ensure smooth rotation
It has 2 vertical column disconnector mounted on steel frame, two poles rotates horizontally and breaks the circuit from the centre. Both posts are supported by ball bearing to ensure smooth rotation
It has vertical movement and designed for independent single pole operation or three pole mechanical ganged operation. The divided support Disconnectors are mounted directly on the structure. These types of Disconnectors permit the design of modern switchgear installations with minimum-space requirement.
The knee-type disconnector consists of one articulated arm which, by moving “horizontally” on the plane of the insulators, closes the circuit on a fixed contact located on the side insulator. Since the movement of the arm takes place on the same plane as that of the insulators, the phase-to-phase spacing is minimized.
The Motor Operating Mechanism is made available to the clients with electric motor gear box, limit switches, auxiliary switches, fuses/MCB and others. This mechanism is extensively used for opening & closing the isolators, without any hassle.
